TeliaSonera Rolls Out LTE Broadband For Laptops in Stockholm & Oslo

Samsung LTE Modem

TeliaSonera teamed with Samsung to offer consumers LTE mobile broadband for laptops using a Samsung 4G USB modem. Mobile broadband laptop users in Stockholm (Sweden) and Oslo (Norway) can now sign up for mobile broadband service for $84 dollars per month, for 30 GB data at data rates up to 80 Mbps (megabits per second). TeliaSonera is believed to be the first wireless provider in the world to deploy LTE (Long Term Evolution), which is 4G wireless broadband. Expect TeliaSonera to deploy LTE in 3 more cities in Norway, and 25 more cities in Sweden during the 2010 fiscal year. It isn’t clear is consumers must buy the Samsung USB modem, or if it comes free with mobile broadband laptop service.

UPDATE: Stacey Higginbotham at GigaOM is reporting that TeliaSonera is offering introductory LTE prices of less than $1 per month!
