Free WiFi Bundle Coming to New York?
Customers of Comcast, Cablevision, and Time Warner Cable can expect a free wifi bundle as part of their high speed broadband services. The cable companies have already developed their own networks of public wifi hotspots, however the companies have now combined their wifi hotspots so that all of their customers have city wide free wifi for use on their laptops while mobile. Customers of all three cable companies will be able to freely roam on the combined public wifi network throughout the New York metropolitan area including parts of New Jersey. No word yet on timing and service availability of the free wifi bundles that will likely be offered with the cable companies fixed broadband services.

Comcast Offers Businesses 100 Mbps Internet Service

Businesses in Minneapolis and St. Paul can now choose what is certainly one of the fastests broadband laptop services in the United States. Comcast’s DOCSIS 3.0 technology delivers 100 megabits per second (Mbps) downloads, and 15 Mbps uploads using fiber optic networks. The technology is called “wideband”, and it will enable Comcast to deliver progressively faster speed advances well into the future. The offer also bundles Microsoft’s Communication Services and McAfee Security Suite at no extra cost. The value of the bundle is $500 for Microsoft’s services, and $280 for the McAfee Security Suite.
Gigaom reported that the broadband service will cost businesses $369.95 per month.
