Clearwire Now Live in Las Vegas

Clearwire’s WiMAX wireless broadband is now live in Las Vegas, the fourth US city with wimax capabilities joining Atlanta, Baltimore, and Portland. Clear’s service can be used with any existing laptop, or ones with embedded wimax. You can sign up at Clear.com, and choose daily, monthly, and at home broadband plans.
Verizon Bundles Free WiFi for DSL and FiOS Broadband Customers

Verizon Wireless has partnered with Boingo Wireless to offer free wifi to Verizon’s wireline broadband customers at more that 20,000 wifi hotspots throughout the United States. Verizon customers of digital subscriber line (dsl) and fios will be able to access Boingo wifi hotspots using free software available for download to wifi enabled laptops.
HP Pavilion dv2z Series Starting at $569.99
The HP Pavilion dv2z Series offers mobile broadband computing with the base broadband laptop at $569.99. The dv2z series laptops work best at home computers with some portability given their size and weight, and can easily be used to go wireless at home.

Sony Debuts Vaio-W Series Netbooks

Sony debuted the Vaio-W Series netbook family this week. The2.6 pound netbook features a 10.5 by 7.1 inch screen, with a 1366×768 high resolution screen. It is built upon an Intel 1.66 GHz Atom processor, and features two USB ports, a webcam, and the Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition operating system. Wireless capabilities include an option for 3G broadband, plus standard bluetooth and WiFi. The Sony Vaio – W netbooks will be available in August.
Gobi: Easy Worldwide Cellular Broadband Access

Qualcomm is one of the leading companies behind the chip technologies in cellular and wireless communications. Their products reach into nearly every market and many if not most devices worldwide. Not surprisingly, Qualcomm has developed a leading mobile broadband chipset called Gobi which works on nearly every cellular carrier worldwide. Qualcomm Gobi comes embedded in laptops, mini laptops (or netbooks), tablets, and soon other devices which will feature cellular broadband connectivity. Sprint and Best Buy Offer Embedded Laptop for $0.99
Sprint and Best Buy have teamed up to offer the Compaq Mini 110c – 1040DX netbook with embedded mobile broadband for $0.99 with activation. You can purchase the same netbook for $389.99 without activation. This mini laptop with embedded broadband can also be purchased for $199 on AT&T or Verizon Wireless with activation. This laptop promotion is offered in Best Buy stores only.
Dell Offers Location Services on Mini 10 Netbook Family

Dell is offering the Dell Wireless 700 location services on its’ Mini 10 netbook line. The location services use Broadcom A-GPS and
Skyhook’s WiFi positioning services. Skyhook location services are prominently featured in Apple’s operating system for the iPhone
and iPod Touch, which means you can expect to see hundreds of location based applications for the Dell Mini 10 netbook family.
The Dell Wireless 700 solution runs on Windows XP and Vista, with support coming later for Windows 7. The service also features
CoPilot which offers mapping, points of interest, and turn by turn GPS directions.
Verizon USB1000 Global Modem Offers Worldwide Internet Access
Novatel’s 3G USB Modem Delivers

Verizon is now offering the USB1000 Global Modem which works on Verizon’s EV-DO network in the United States, as well as GSM and other 3G networks through out the rest of the world. The $150 usb dongle is by Novatel Wireless, and offers users the convenience of mobile broadband on the go, as well as home and office usage.

The Archos 9 tablet pc with capacitive touchscreen has received a warm media reception to date. It features an 8.9 inch 1024×600 pixel screen, that accepts touch and stylus input. It runs either an 800 MHz or 1.2GHz Intel Atom processor with 1 GB of memory, 120 GB disk, built in bluetooth, cam, WiFi, and wireless broadband capabilities. Cellular South announced summer availability of the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbook with built in 3G mobile broadband. The 2.6 pound netbook features a 10.1 inch screen, a multitouch & gesture pad, and an edge to edge keyboard. The netbook will cost $199 with a new two year mobile broadband agreement.
